PassWorth

About PassWorth: How We Calculate Break-Even Points

Who Built This

PassWorth is an independent UK website built to solve a specific problem. Every spring, families buy annual memberships for National Trust, English Heritage, Merlin, and other attractions. Most never calculate whether they will actually use them enough. We built these calculators because we got tired of reading 2,000-word blog posts that buried the answer under affiliate links and generic advice.

How We Calculate Prices

  1. Price one visit at the gate: adults × adult ticket + children × child ticket.
  2. Add parking per visit if you drive and the site charges non-members.
  3. Multiply that single-visit total by the number of visits you honestly expect this year.
  4. Find the cheapest published membership tier that covers your household size.
  5. Subtract the membership cost from your annual gate total. Positive means the pass saves money.
  6. Divide membership cost by the single-visit gate total and round up to get break-even visits.

Where Our Prices Come From

Gate ticket and membership prices are taken from the official provider websites and membership pages. We use standard published adult and child rates, not flash sale or third-party discounted tickets. Parking assumptions use typical non-member charges at pay-to-enter sites. Every calculator page shows the month those figures were last verified.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not bury the break-even number under 2,000 words of soft marketing.
  • We do not pretend every pass is a good buy.
  • We do not store your calculator inputs or require an account.
  • We do not adjust recommendations to favour higher-commission products.

Our Independence

PassWorth may earn affiliate commissions when you buy through our links. That income funds hosting and price updates. It does not change the maths. If a pass loses money for your household, the calculator says so. We would rather earn trust with an honest "not worth it" than push a membership that does not fit.

Accuracy and Corrections

Providers change prices, exclusions, and child allowances. We check major passes every April and update sooner when a verified change lands. If you spot a figure that no longer matches an official page, treat the official page as authoritative and assume we will correct PassWorth on the next review cycle.
